Turquoise - Silver - 2 piece jewellery set - Bali granulated silver

A matched two-piece suite - necklace and bracelet - in the Balinese manner: large tumbled turquoise nuggets alternating with barrel-cut red coral, divided by hand-granulated silver bead caps, daisy spacers and plain rounds. MATERIALS - Turquoise: natural matrix, stabilised. The irregular brown-black webbing runs THROUGH the stone rather than sitting on the surface, which is the mark of genuine turquoise rather than dyed imitation. Stabilisation is normal and expected for beads of this size. - Coral: SPONGE CORAL, colour-enhanced (dyed) to a deep brick red. The characteristic open porous structure is clearly visible in the close-up photographs. This is NOT precious Mediterranean or blood coral and is not offered as such. - Metal: silver-coloured metal, unmarked and untested. Each bead cap is built up from applied granules and twisted wire in the Balinese tradition, giving a hand-made weight and texture that cast jewellery does not achieve. No hallmark was found on any component and the metal has NOT been acid-tested. It is offered as unmarked, untested silver-coloured metal - please judge from the photographs. MEASUREMENTS (all weighed and measured - see photographs) - Necklace: approx. 44 cm, 64 g, hook-and-eye clasp - Bracelet: approx. 20 cm, 23 g, lobster clasp with decorative bail - Total weight of the suite: 88 g Please note: the stones have not been removed or individually weighed, so no separate gemstone weights are stated. The 88 g is the weight of both pieces complete, including all metal. CONDITION Very good throughout and ready to wear. Stringing firm on both pieces, all beads present, both clasps working. Both pieces have developed a soft, even patina in the recesses of the silverwork, which is original and has not been polished out. IMPORTANT - SHIPPING RESTRICTION This lot contains coral. It will be shipped WITHIN THE EU ONLY. Please do not bid if you require delivery outside the EU. Sent tracked and insured, packed in a padded box.
