atural grouping of Well-defined Ammonite Shells — A natural group of ammonites of the Perisphinctes genus, beautifully preserved — This extraordinary specimen presents a natural aggregate of fossil ammonites of the Perisphinctes genus, dating from the Jurassic period. The piece features a complex arrangement of spirally wound shells, some quite large and others smaller, all beautifully preserved in a clear and well-defined matrix. The surface shows exceptional morphological details, with radial ridges precisely outlining each turn of the shells, a testament to ancient marine life. Perisphinctes ammonites were marine cephalopods widely distributed during the Jurassic, characterized by a planispiral shell (coiled on a single plane) and a complex ornamentation. These predators swam nimbly in prehistoric seas, using their shells as a protective shield. Their fossilization is a geological event that allows us to study the evolution of species and the marine environment from millions of years ago. This particular grouping is a relatively rare event, where multiple individuals have been fossilized together, offering a unique snapshot of an ancient ecosystem. Hailing from Madagascar, an area renowned for its exceptional fossil finds, this piece is a magnificent example of how nature and time can create geological works of art. The natural coloration, predominantly beige and cream tones, highlights the elegant curves and fine details of the shells, making it a striking visual centerpiece. Each ammonite displays the characteristic growth pattern, with expanding spirals and detailed striations, revealing the complex internal structure that once housed the living organism. Ideal for museums, private collections, or as a high-value decorative element in an elegant setting, this aggregate of Perisphinctes ammonites represents a cultural and scientific investment. It offers not only intrinsic beauty but also a tangible connection with Earth’s deep history and its extinct wonders. Its dramatic presence makes it a focal point in any display, evoking a sense of wonder for paleontology and the planet’s ancient past. Conditions: The specimen is in good preservation, with clearly visible details and no significant alterations. Minor imperfections or color variations should be considered part of its natural formation and do not compromise its aesthetic or scientific value. Name: Aggregate of Perisphinctes Ammonites Classification: Cephalopoda, Ammonoidea, Perisphinctidae Species: Perisphinctes sp. Geological period: Jurassic Provenance: Madagascar
