An original and unique work by the Dutch contemporary artist Belle Doxx, in which her recognizable mix of raw figurativeness, street-art influences and symbolic imagery is strongly foregrounded. In Space Cowboy a deformed figure with a cowboy hat appears, built up from coarse black lines, grey paint layers and dripping accents. The bright neon yellow eye forms the direct focal point of the composition and gives the character an almost extraterrestrial, hallucinatory appearance. The cowboy here does not function as a classical Western icon, but as a kind of futuristic outsider: independent, elusive and detached from conventions. The title Space Cowboy reinforces that tension between the earthly and the cosmic, between nostalgic Western symbolism and a much rougher, contemporary visual language. The visible brushstrokes, dripping, coarse contours and deliberately unfinished passages give the work a spontaneous energy. The combination of black, white, grey and the unexpected neon accent creates a powerful balance between sobriety and visual impact. Within Belle Doxx's oeuvre Space Cowboy fits with recurring themes such as freedom, identity, individuality, ego and the desire to move off the beaten track. About Belle Doxx Belle Doxx is a Dutch contemporary artist with a distinctive visual language in which painting, text, symbolism and influences from pop culture and street art come together. Her work has been presented among others during a solo exhibition in Shelter Amsterdam, a solo exhibition at Gallery BLNDSH in The Hague and during the NOCKNOCK Art Fair. Additionally she participated in a group exhibition at Black Art Gallery in Antwerp, where works by Harif Guzman and Stig De Block among others were also shown. Belle Doxx also collaborated with the international artist Machine Gun Kelly, for whom she developed artwork for merchandise. In 2025 her work was also presented by Playboy.
