Zoom binoculars - 914405 - 1966-1968 - Germany - Carl Zeiss, Hensoldt

Info: Presented to you here is an absolute rarity from the Carl Zeiss-Hensoldt company. The original Diadem theatre binoculars, built 1966–1968, in pristine condition. In addition, this is a rare luxury edition! The classic magnification of 3.6×12. A delicate bridge with a center drive for focusing. The engraving "Carl Zeiss" (without the "Jena" addition) or as here "Hensoldt" as well as the origin mark "Made in Germany". While most Diadem opera binoculars from the 1960s were made in plain black, elegant white, or with mother-of-pearl coverings, Carl Zeiss West Germany occasionally released limited luxury and color variants. Features of the blue leather edition, Exclusivity: The colored leather inlays (such as dark green, red, or blue) were often produced as special editions or for upscale jewelers and optical shops. Rare collectible edition: Case with beautiful original blue leather (extremely rare, not standard black/white). Condition: Unused and absolutely mint (“New Old Stock”). No signs of use, no wear on the leather. Optics & mechanics: The lenses are crystal clear, scratch-free, and free of mold. The center drive runs butter-smooth. Serial number: 914405 (manufacture circa 1966–1968). Accessories: Including the original, perfectly preserved case. This consists of smooth and nubuck leather, with gilded brass appliqués in blue. The hard case is also in excellent condition. The connection between Carl Zeiss and Hensoldt is deeply rooted in the history of German optics industry: For almost 85 years, Hensoldt was the most important subsidiary for long-range optics within the Zeiss Group. The historical milestones of this connection are divided into the following phases: 1. The takeover (1928) The Moritz Carl Hensoldt company, founded in 1852 in Wetzlar, was one of the most important pioneers of binoculars and rifle scopes. After the founder’s death, the Carl Zeiss Foundation acquired the majority stake in Hensoldt AG in 1928. Hensoldt remained as an independent brand for long-range optics within the group. Production for Zeiss (from 1964) From 1964, the collaboration was massively intensified: The Hensoldt plant in Wetzlar took over the complete production of civilian binoculars and rifle scopes for the Carl Zeiss (West) brand. Also, the early, classic models of your Zeiss Diadem opera binoculars were often manufactured by Hensoldt on Zeiss’s behalf at that time. At the same time, Hensoldt produced high-end optics under its own name for the military and authorities (e.g., the famous Bundeswehr binoculars). A unique opportunity for collectors! Dear buyers!
