Zacharie Mayani (1899-1982) - Two Sisters

Born in 1899..Zacharie Mayani was a Russian artist of Russian Jewish descent. He was educated at the University of Paris. Zacharie was a writer, journalist and artist who exhibited in Paris with other Jewish artists in the early 1900's. He died in 1982. The painting is executed with loose brush strokes in pastel and harmonious colours, giving an overall feeling of congenial companionship. The artwork is hand signed in the lower right-hand corner in vermilion oil paint. There are two tiny holes in the upper left-hand corner where small nails have protruded through the canvas. Otherwise it is in good condition. The canvas is discoloured with age but remains strong. The thin wooden frame requires replacing. The painting was acquired at auction in France. It will be forwarded by an International Courier with insurance and a tracking system.
