Deeply marked by these events, Nara painted “In the Milky Lake/Thinking One,” the portrait of a girl with a grave expression, her eyes closed, wearing a green dress and half-submerged in a barely visible puddle of water; it was his only major work of 2011. The painting by Yoshitomo Nara, “In the Milky Lake Thinking One,” depicts what appears to be a small androgynous child, dressed in a soft green dress, standing alone in the middle of nothingness.
