Yayoi Kusama – Dots Obsession (2018) MoMA Skateboard Deck – Yellow & Black Offered here is an original Yayoi Kusama MoMA skateboard deck, featuring the artist's iconic black polka dots on a bright yellow background. This skateboard is part of the MoMA Dots Skateboards collection, based on Kusama's Dots Obsession series. The designs were specially created for the MoMA skateboard collection and feature Kusama's characteristic use of repeated dots and varying scales. The reverse of the deck is marked “MoMA”, bears Yayoi Kusama's printed signature and the copyright notice Yayoi Kusama. It also features the “Made in Canada” sticker. She was a precursor of the pop art, minimalism and feminist art movements and influenced her contemporaries, Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg.[2] Although she was forgotten after leaving the New York art scene in the early 1970s, she was recognized during her lifetime as one of Japan's most important artists and was an important voice of the avant-garde.
