Black McCaviar cone with its red and white straw on a shiny gold base by XTC. Plastic sculpture handmade by the artist XTC using polyethylene, resin and acrylic paints and varnishes. The edition number applies to the sculpture fully realized by the artist and not to the glass cloche. Probably XTC's most iconic work to date, in black and gold. A reinterpretation of the McDonald’s cone, a future luxury dish in fast-food form? Not so impossible! This is not a cardboard McDonald’s cone; it was created from plastic materials and painted by XTC. The glass cloche is an integral part of the work. Born in 1978 in the heart of France, XTC shaped his artistic universe through his interest in Design, Pop Art, and more recently Street Art. This visual exploration became a passion that had to be realized. XTC defines himself as a self-taught visual artist, aligned with the Pop Art movement, through the subversion of contemporary consumer goods. His creativity expresses itself through bold staging of icons of popular consumption (such as McDonald’s, Malabar, Chupa), which he makes clash with the world of luxury (including Chanel, Hermès, Veuve Clicquot Champagne or even Caviar) and Street Art, further blurring the already tenuous boundaries between these worlds. He expresses his art through sculpture, blending painting with all kinds of resins, plastics, and sometimes minerals. He draws inspiration, among others, from Banksy, Keith Haring, Orlinski, Andy Warhol, Obey, advertising and addictions in general.
