Woomera spear thrower. Aboriginal people, Australia, 19th–20th century

Descriptio Wood. Dimensions: 70 × 9 × 2 cm. Traditional Australian spearhead used to increase the power and range of a spear throw. Carved from a single piece of wood and fitted with a spur at the end, this type of object played an essential role in hunting and warfare, and also held significant cultural and symbolic value within Aboriginal communities. Its simple form and signs of use demonstrate its functional nature, while the patina and balanced proportions reflect the deep integration of utility and tradition in Australian Aboriginal material culture. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
