A sculptural masterpiece for every ConchyloLogy collection. The Pterynotus pinnatus (scientifically recognized as Pterynotus alatus), also known as the Feather or Wing Murex, captivates with its three wing-shaped, elegantly curved longitudinal ridges (varices) that give the shell an extraordinarily graceful, almost hovering silhouette. With a stately size of 65 mm, this snow-white to cream-colored jewel presents fully developed, ultra-thin edging structures. The delicate aperture and the fine wing margins are in absolute pristine condition. Origin This exquisite collectible comes from the swift-flowing waters around Dakula Island (Philippines). The shell was carefully harvested in deeper zones there, which has ensured the exceptionally pure white coloration and the excellent preservation of the delicate shell structures.
