Small quarto, publisher’s illustrated hardcover, 192 pp., numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions. ISBN 3-8228-5548-0. The 2001 edition and its bibliographic details are confirmed by the catalogs consulted. A monograph dedicated to Edward Weston (1886–1958), one of the leading figures of American modernist photography. It features reproductions of his studies of nudes, landscapes, seashells, peppers, and natural forms, characterized by a particularly thorough exploration of material, volume, and abstraction. Notably included are the famous 1927 series of seashells as well as his nudes from the 1930s. The book also includes a portrait of Weston with his view camera, taken by Tina Modotti in 1924. Condition: generally good; hardcover showing some rubbing, small marks, and a slight dent at the top; interior clean.
