Welo opal – exceptional natural specimen with an intense...

This impressive natural piece from the Welo region in Ethiopia fascinates with an extraordinarily intense and vibrant play of color. Depending on the incidence of light and viewing angle, the opal shines in spectacular nuances of electric blue, vivid turquoise, and radiant green. The colors appear almost neon-like at times and form within the stone fascinating, cloud-like, and flowing color structures. Particularly appealing is the combination of the transparent to opalescent areas and the natural, still partly preserved matrix, which gives the piece its original and unmistakable character. The irregular natural form additionally emphasizes that this is an individual natural product and not an industrially manufactured gemstone. Through the extraordinary color intensity, the interesting three-dimensional structure, and the strong play-of-color, this Welo opal piece is an exceptionally attractive display piece for demanding mineral collectors and opal lovers. Exactly the interplay of deep blue, radiant green, and turquoise reflections makes this specimen a special showpiece and a striking work of natural art from Ethiopia.
