Elegant and scenographic pair of wall-mounted shelves in carved and gilded wood, prudently datable to the first quarter of the 20th century. The structures feature a rich neoclassical-inspired design with baroque echoes, composed of opposing volutes, foliate motifs, and floral terminals, shaped in strong relief and enhanced by the warm gilded finish. Particularly beautiful are the upper curved shelves, painted to resemble green veined marble: the contrast between the deep green of the shelves and the gold of the structures gives the pair a remarkable decorative presence. The gilding retains a pleasant patina of time. There are abrasions, signs of use, and small finish losses, compatible with the age and clearly documented in the photographs. The two shelves, designed to be displayed as a pair, are especially evocative beside a mirror, a painting, or an architectural element, and can also effectively fit into contemporary and eclectic interiors. Overall dimensions of the two side-by-side shelves: 66 × 20 × H 32 cm. The photographs of the front, the shelves, the decorative details, and the reverse constitute an integral part of the description and the condition of the lot.
