Waco, Texas. $50 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 675. The Citizens NB. Charter #3135. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25. Issued by the Citizens National Bank of Waco (Charter# 3135) during the 1920s based on the bank/bank serial number format introduced in 1925, bidders have here a rarity from an otherwise "common" bank as this institution records approximately a total of 106 non-institutional notes in the National Bank Note Census. Yet this fails to strike at the rarity of this type and denomination as only three non-institutional $50 Plain Backs are presently recorded. This held together in consideration with extant stamped signatures attributable to Cashier Charles B. Schuler and President Walter Garner Lacy and it takes little to figure that bidders have for their consideration a note that proudly stands above the bulk of its fellow survivors on this bank that ultimately lingered until 1988. PCGS Banknote comments "Minor Edge Damage." Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
