Vintage - Jewellery box - Kingwood - Mid-20th Century Storage Compartment

Beautiful and authentic Chinese jewelry box from the mid-20th century (c. 1950–1970). This box is handcrafted from dark lacquered wood (rosewood) and richly decorated with engraved brass fittings on the corners, sides and clasp. The top of the lid features a refined, hand-carved medallion of light-green soapstone (or jade) with a traditional floral motif. When the box is opened, it reveals a atmospheric interior fully lined with bright red Chinese silk/satin brocade with an elegant woven pattern. The interior includes a special section for rings or small jewelry. A very decorative collectible object that is both functional and aesthetically a true eye-catcher on a dresser or vanity.
