Unlike cufflinks from Germany, where the front side is usually connected to a toggle by a bar, or cufflinks from England, whose four sides are often identical in design, French jewelry designers sometimes went their own way with this classic task. This exquisite pair from Boucheron illustrates this impressively. Formally, the design is reminiscent of precious stirrups. One bar is set with deep blue sapphires in a sugarloaf cut at both ends. Movably attached to this are solid links that are firmly mounted together, reminiscent of the elements of a curb chain and elegantly tapering towards the middle. Once attached, the sapphires in particular stand out on the shirt, while wide, golden chain links accentuate the outer line of the cuff. The extraordinary design combines sophistication and functionality and is a testament to Boucheron's innovative strength. Since its foundation in 1858, the Parisian jewelry house has stood for the highest level of craftsmanship and avant-garde designs.
