"Less is more!" claimed Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, expressing the ideals of modernism and the Bauhaus. Robert Venturi, the most famous architect of postmodernism, rephrased this sentence a good 60 years later in his own words: "Less is a bore", and in doing so, did not express the sense of style and will to form of the 1980s in a catchy slogan. This fantastic bracelet seems to have been created entirely in this spirit. It is an impressive piece of jewellery that is fully committed to its materials and their effect. It sets natural irregularities against handcrafted precision. 288 fine diamonds weighing a total of around five carats are set in pavé settings on three bars of high-carat gold. 208 baroque cultured pearls are set between the bars. They are strung on flexible nylon cords and vary greatly in shape and size, creating a lively surface of pure luster. The cuff bracelet has an impressive width of around nine centimetres and does not require a clasp: It is simply slipped over the hand to wear it. The bracelet comes from the studio of Stuttgart goldsmith Günter Krauss and is a unique handmade piece. Kraus, born in Pforzheim in 1943, was one of the most important goldsmiths and designers in Germany. His works are still popular today thanks to their unique style and skillful use of select, beautiful materials and are highly recognizable. The bracelet came to us from a collection in Stuttgart.
