VICTOR BRAUNER — WRITINGS AND CORRESPONDENCE 1938–1948 BRAUNER (Victor). Writings and Correspondence 1938–1948. The Victor Brauner Archives at the National Museum of Modern Art. Selected texts, compiled and edited by Camille Morando and Sylvie Patry. Paris, Centre Pompidou - National Institute of Art History, [2005]. Quarto, paperback, illustrated cover. Reproductions of manuscripts, archival documents, photographs, and artworks. An important documentary publication based on the Victor Brauner collection held at the National Museum of Modern Art. It brings together texts by the artist and his correspondence with several major figures of the avant-garde and Surrealism: René Char, Gherasim Luca, Roberto Matta, Pablo Picasso, Yves Tanguy, Peggy Guggenheim, Julien Levy, and others. The documents cover the period 1938–1948, from Brauner’s permanent settlement in France until his expulsion from the Surrealist group by André Breton. Some of these manuscripts and letters are published here for the first time. A reference work for the study of Victor Brauner and Surrealism. ISBN 2-84426-283-X. Very good copy.
