Todas las subastas / Etnográfica / Vibrant Royal Blue Afghan Lapis Lazuli with Rich Golden...
handmade coffee table top in natural lapis lazuli — On offer, a magnificent and exclusive circular-shaped tabletop, entirely handmade using the mosaic technique. This piece of mineral art was created using precious natural lapis lazuli from the historic Afghan mines, a testimony of timeless luxury and design. The surface is a hypnotic composition of lapis lazuli tiles, carefully selected and assembled to create a vibrant chromatic display. The dominant tones range from the deepest ultramarine to royal blue, enriched by the iconic golden inclusions of pyrite that sparkle like stars in a night sky and by delicate white calcite veining. This combination gives the tabletop visual depth and an unrepeatable uniqueness. Lapis lazuli is not a single mineral, but a metamorphic rock cherished by humans for millennia. Its composition is an amalgam of several minerals: lazurite, which gives it the characteristic deep blue color; pyrite, responsible for the golden specks; and calcite, which creates the white veins. This geological complexity makes every fragment a work of nature’s art. The Afghan origin, specifically from the Badakhshan region, is synonymous with the highest global quality. This is the same lapis lazuli that adorned the funerary masks of Egyptian pharaohs, such as Tutankhamun, and that was ground to obtain the precious ultramarine pigment used by Renaissance masters. Owning this piece means possessing a fragment of history. This work is the result of meticulous artisanal skill. Each tessera has been cut, ground, and placed by hand to form a perfectly smooth and homogeneous surface, highlighting the stone’s intrinsic beauty. It is a dialogue between the primal force of geology and the refined vision of the artist, perfect as a centerpiece in a prestigious living room, study, or boutique hotel.
