Symbol of a new era on two wheels. Official document and representation of the Vespa 125, one of the models that definitively consolidated the Vespa phenomenon in postwar Europe. Manufactured by Piaggio, the 125 from 1955 represented accessible mobility, smart design, and the optimism of a generation beginning to look ahead. The Vespa 125 embodied the essence of the original concept created in 1946: a self-supporting steel monocoque structure that integrated chassis and body into a single piece. Its curved silhouette, with the characteristic shield at the front and the flat floor, not only defined its visual identity but also offered protection, cleanliness, and comfort to the rider. It was practical, elegant, and recognizable from every angle. Powered by a sun-melted? two-stroke 125 cc single-cylinder engine, air-cooled, it offered enough power to move smoothly both in the city and on interurban trips. The manual transmission on the left handlebar, ingeniously integrated, and the direct drive to the rear wheel turned riding into a simple, agile, and close-to-the-user experience. Its structural lightness, interchangeable wheels, and easy maintenance made the Vespa 125 a democratic and versatile vehicle. It was not a luxury object, but a daily tool that transformed mobility for thousands of people. Yet its Italian design gave it more than functionality: character. In 1955, the Vespa was already much more than a scooter. It had become a cultural icon, a star of European cinema, and a symbol of youth and independence.
