VANUXEM - "Masques d'Ombres" – Limited & Numbered Masterpiece - Dan

This lot concerns a rare and sought-after reference work within the tribal art world: "Masques d'Ombres". This splendid book was published in a strictly limited edition of only 1000 copies. This specific copy bears the unique number 752. The book is in absolute mint condition / deadstock. It is unread and even retains the distinctive, fresh smell of the printer. The work is beautifully bound and shines with the fantastic, atmospheric photography of master photographer Hugues Dubois, who brings the objects to life with an unmatched play of light and shadow. With an introduction by the renowned expert Marie-Noël Verger-Fèvre, this book offers crucial art-historical depth. Cross-references & art-historical context This work is an indispensable reference framework for collectors of West African art. It can be placed directly alongside leading publications and exhibition catalogs, such as: ● The iconic mask studies of the Musée Dapper (such as "Masques", 1995). ● Monographs on the Ivory Coast region by renowned scholars such as Eberhard Fischer and Lorenz Homberger ("Die Kunst der Dan"). ● High-level gallery editions, comparable to the scientific catalogs of Galerie Meyer or Bernard de Grunne. The book has been treated with the utmost care. The photos for this auction were taken with extreme caution, with the book never opened more than 90 degrees to fully protect the integrity of the spine and binding. Note for bidders: In this and upcoming auctions, many high-quality ethnographic publications will be offered, including many from Oceania, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Africa. A unique opportunity for building or expanding a specialized art-historical library. Shipping occurs with Track & Trace. When purchasing multiple lots, I apply, where relevant, a fair adjustment to the shipping costs, appropriate to the total volume and insured value. Pickup is possible in The Hague, Benoordehout (2596GN).
