An authentic masterpiece of Italian abstract lyricism, realized in 1965 – a year of great historical significance and highly sought after by collectors – by the master of light Valentino Vago (1931-2018). This exceptional mixed-media work perfectly embodies the historical moment in which Vago abandoned figuration to embrace the Infinite, dedicating himself to pure exploration of spatial depth and autonomous light. A central vertical yellow band, vibrant and tactile, stands out forcefully against a deep black void in the upper part and on the side spaces in earthy tones, introducing his famous concept of “Horizons.” Often internationally paired with the spiritual atmospheres of Mark Rothko, this historical and early 1965 work represents a rare and prestigious find for seasoned modern art collectors and elite galleries. Artist: Valentino Vago (1931-2018). Year: 1965 (Signed and dated “Vago 65” in the lower part, toward the left). Technique: Mixed media (watercolor, tempera and ink) on thick, textured paper/card. Signature: Autographic signature and date harmoniously integrated into the lower composition, clearly legible as “Vago 65.” Frame: Included as a gift, a minimalist natural pine solid wood frame with a wide white passe-partout, reflecting the pure, architectural aesthetics of the work. [Condition report] The work is in excellent condition. The color layers have been exceptionally well preserved, maintaining the original high contrast, saturation and dynamic luminosity. The thick paper retains its original texture, with no signs of moisture damage, tears, or improper handling. The frame is in excellent condition and features a beautiful natural wood grain.
