The years of the Weimar Republic, between the great wars, are still regarded today as a time of longing. Politically turbulent, marked by crises and major upheavals, but also progressive, in love with luxury and fun-loving: we think of the early heyday of black-and-white films, nightclubs and cabarets, modern paintings by artists such as Otto Dix. The jewellery created during this period was intended to reflect this attitude to life. It was modern and luxurious, relying on geometries, contrasts and clear, crystalline designs. This ring with an unusual, cartouche-shaped ring face also dates to this period. At its center is a sparkling transitional-cut diamond. It is framed by the finest saw-cut platinum. At the ends, it is lined with ornaments that resemble bouquets of delicate feathers. They are in turn held in place by sapphire bands. The ornamental gallery is also strikingly beautiful, turning the ring itself into a luxurious objet d'art when viewed from the side. Typical of the time, the ring is set in platinum on high-carat gold. Every detail confirms its time of origin. A wonderful, characteristic Art Deco jewel!
