There have been compelling, beautiful and enchanting jewelry designs in every era. But when it comes to refinement and elegant delicacy in design and implementation, no era has produced such magnificent jewelry creations as the Belle Époque, those last brief years before the outbreak of the First World War. At the height of this "beautiful era", pieces of jewellery were created that are still unparalleled today. So it is no wonder that these designs have repeatedly inspired pieces of jewellery from later times. This large pendant celebrates the style of this era, its beauty and lightness. It is designed symmetrically; two large C-sweeps, inspired by the cheerful taste of the Rococo period, form the centerpiece. Small laurel leaves and flowers are set into this frame. Small chains made of additional diamonds are attached at the bottom, overlapping with great skill. The main focus, however, is on two glowing, pink-red rubies. The upper one comes from Burma, the lower one probably from Madagascar. Both rubies are not heated and are therefore particularly exquisite. The design with its elegant ornaments and the cool color scheme of white and another selected hue corresponds to the taste of the years c. 1910. However, the materials reveal that the pendant must have been created later. For one thing, the diamonds are cut in a modern full cut or modern set cut, which did not exist in this form c. 1910. The fact that the pendant is made entirely of silver also reveals its later origin. This choice of material is initially surprising for such a high-quality piece of jewellery, but in the 1970s and early 1980s we repeatedly encountered pieces of jewellery with high-quality gemstones made of silver. The silver is rhodium-plated and looks like white gold. At the same time, however, you can be sure that no nickel has been used and that the pendant does not cause any allergies. Nickel-free white gold only became established in the following years. The result is a high-quality pendant that combines tradition and modernity in the most beautiful way - and is made to last for generations.
