Splendid and rare work by UGO MULAS, dating from the 1960s, specifically 1968, titled "14th Triennale-contestation". Silver gelatin print on baryta paper, measuring 26.1 x 38.8 cm. A true jewel for collectors. The work is complete with a simple yet refined wooden frame (shipped with transparent Crilex synthetic glass) with a mat (see photos 1 and 2). On the reverse, title and UGO MULAS stamp (see photos 4, 5 and 6). The work was PUBLISHED in the magazine DOMUS in 1968. Accompanied by a provenance certificate from the Galleria d'Arte Vico di San Matteo. Shipped via DHL Express. Ugo Mulas (Pozzolengo, August 28, 1928 – Milan, March 2, 1973) was one of the most important Italian photographers of the 20th century. Moving to Milan in 1948, he began attending the Brera Academy and the artistic milieu of the Jamaica Bar. Self-taught in photography, he made his professional debut in 1954 by documenting the Venice Biennale. In the following years he worked in photojournalism, fashion, and theater, also collaborating with the Piccolo Teatro di Milano and Giorgio Strehler. From the 1960s he dedicated himself mainly to contemporary art photography, producing portraits and reports of artists such as Lucio Fontana, Alberto Burri, Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp, and Andy Warhol. His research culminated in the Verifiche, a series of works through which Mulas reflected on the nature of photography and the role of the photographer. He died in Milan in 1973, leaving an important legacy in Italian contemporary photography.
