Trilobite - Fossil carapace - Pedinopariops Vagabundus - 9 cm

In this lot, trilobites of the species Pedinopariops (Hypsipariops) vagabundus are up for auction, semi-enrolled position, (the animal's body measures 6.5 cm long and 4 cm wide; extended it would be 7.5–8 cm in length; complete matrix 9 cm). Great preservation, a mineral seam causes a flaw in the pygidium, spectacular metallic black color, no paintwork. It is a great specimen, good size and perfect eye quality, "it’s very pleasant when you hold it and can observe it." It comes from Jbel (Mountain) el Mrakib, Drâa-Tafilalet region, (Morocco). Middle Devonian period, Givetian age. Along with Drotops megalomanicus and D. armatus, Pedinopariops vagabundus is considered a giant-type phacopid. The body ornamentation is quite smooth, instead of a shell with tuberculated ornamentation; the style features numerous grooves in the form of very visible points on the genal spines. Also characteristic of the species are its well-developed, rounded glabella tubercles. In many cases, anatomical differences between species can be very subtle and only the most observant eyes are able to distinguish them. Very aesthetic and decorative piece, "accompanied by an L-shaped acrylic display stand as a gift"
