torpado - Bicycle - Before 1900

Torpado Vintage - Gold Steel Vintage Racing Bicycle Campagnolo GENERAL DESCRIPTION Up for auction is a fascinating and iconic Torpado vintage racing bicycle, a classic example of the great Italian vintage cycling. The steel frame features a rare and elegant metallic gold/ochre yellow finish, completed by original black Torpado decals and logos placed on the down tube, seat tube, and top tube. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND VISIBLE COMPONENTS The bicycle is equipped with high-quality classic vintage components. The drivetrain boasts a vintage Campagnolo rear derailleur, a Campagnolo front derailleur on a clamp, down‑tube shift levers, and a refined aluminum double-chainring crankset paired with vintage metal pedals with toe clips and straps. The braking system uses vintage brake calipers and brake levers with brown rubber hoods. The cockpit features an aluminum handlebar stem branded Touriste with a race drop wrapped in black tape. The saddle is a black vintage Concor/San Marco style mounted on an aluminum grooved seatpost. Completing the setup are a classic metal bottle cage and wheels with aluminum Nisi rims for tubular tires. CONDITION AND RECOMMENDED WORK As this is a vintage bicycle that has been stationary for some time, it presents overall good conservative condition, solid and structurally integral, but will require a quick general tune-up, lubrication, and inspection of tightness and cables before any road use. Visually it shows its authentic patina of time with normal and light signs of surface wear, such as small abrasions or scattered scratches on the gold paint of the frame and on the decals. The vintage tubular tires and the rubber hoods of the brake levers show aging, and it is advisable to check their condition or plan replacement in view of frequent use. SHIPPING AND PACKAGING NOTES The lot will be packed with extreme care and shipped via courier with tracking and insurance. Note that, very likely to ensure safer shipping and reduce package volume, some bicycle components such as pedals, saddle, rims, and the handlebar will be disassembled.
