This ring features a sky-blue sapphire—bright and translucent, like the sky on a summer day—set within a frame of sparkling, top-quality diamonds. The bright, delicate white diamonds, totaling just over one carat, enhance the sapphire’s colour and make it appear to float: They look like dabs of cloud. Or like the petals of a flower hovering above the finger. The precious stones are set in high-karat rose gold. The settings are designed so classically and understated that very little gold is visible: Viewed from the side, the gold forms a low setting; the rose gold ring band is polished and also designed with understated elegance. This adds a radiant warmth to the sapphire’s hue and the light of the diamonds, like the afternoon light by the sea. The ring, with its combination of diamonds and a coloured gemstone, is what’s known as an “entourage” ring: Framed in a bed of white brilliant-cut diamonds, the contrasting effect of radiant white and intense colour particularly enhances the gemstone’s beauty. Ever since Princess Diana chose an “entourage” ring featuring a sapphire as her engagement ring in 1981 from the royal jeweller Garrard & Co., this style of ring has been considered a classic engagement ring. The ring was designed by us and crafted in our workshop. We had the setting made at a small workshop in Italy. The diamonds and the sapphire were set into the ring here in Berlin. Of course, our goldsmiths are also happy to resize the ring to any size you need.
