Wall panel of four Delft faience tiles (Netherlands) - Animated landscapes and lakeside scenes in circular medallions within a frame (19th century) Decorative ensemble comprising a panel of four Dutch Delft-style faience tiles, mounted and framed in a white-painted wooden panel. Each tile of standard size (12.5 x 12.5 cm) is painted in cobalt blue underglaze and features a circular medallion (or 'rose medallion/with flowering corners') adorned with motifs of lively landscapes, architectural scenes, trees and picturesque figures. Notably, there is a landscape with figures and a smoking volcano, a fisherman by the water, a walker near a bridge, and a seascape with sailing ships and ruins. The tile corner pieces are decorated with the traditional stylized floral motifs inspired by Delft. The tiles display a charming crazing characteristic of the antique glaze.
