TheArtOfAGhost - Ataràxia II (The Wait For Clarity series) -XL

“Sometimes clarity does not arrive as an answer. It arrives as a breath, when we finally stop searching for it.” Ataràxia II arises from that suspended condition that precedes understanding. It is a painting built around waiting: not the wait for something that necessarily must happen, but that inner moment in which we remain still before what we still cannot grasp. The horizon occupies the center of the work as a threshold. Above it, a stretch of deep blues, almost black, crossed by stratifications, scratches and material movements, constructs an uneasy but not menacing sky. In the center, a cold luminosity slowly emerges from the density of the scene, as if something is trying to reveal itself through the darkness. It is precisely this light that constitutes the heart of the work. It is not a triumphant light. It does not dissolve the dark and it does not pretend to resolve it. It remains distant, restrained. It is the light of something we do not yet possess, but which we can already perceive. The dark shapes that rise along the landscape introduce a more physical and primordial dimension. They seem to belong to the earth, yet at the same time they take on an almost organic form, like immobile presences looking out toward that horizon. Their verticality interrupts the vastness of the sky and creates a tension between what remains rooted and what, instead, seems to want to emerge. The splotches and overlays do not seek a perfectly defined representation of the landscape: the landscape becomes more of an inner state. Color is used to build emotional depth, passing through blues, blacks and desaturated highlights to create a surface that seems to move continually between visible and invisible. The title Ataràxia evokes a state of deep calm, of inner balance. But in this second variation of the series that calm is not yet a definitively achieved condition. It is a quiet that is forming, slowly, right inside the waiting. Symbolism The Wait For Clarity is a search for the distance that exists between feeling something and finally being able to understand it. •In Ataràxia II, the horizon represents this limit. It is the point toward which we look when we seek an answer, but also the point beyond which we still cannot see. •Darkness does not necessarily represent something negative. It is what we still do not know, what remains indistinct before consciousness can give it a form. This is why darkness occupies much of the composition: clarity in the work is never immediate. •The central light instead represents the possibility of understanding. Not a definitive answer, but the first signal that something inside us is slowly changing. •The dark shapes crossing the landscape can be read as presences, obstacles, thoughts or fragments of memory. They remain deliberately ambiguous, because they belong to that area of the mind where not everything needs to be named to be perceived. Ataràxia II thus speaks of a very human moment: when we have stopped fighting against what we still do not understand, but have not yet found the words to name it. Artist Biography Simone Pappalardo, professionally known as “TheArtOfAGhost,” is an Italian contemporary artist whose research focuses on exploring human emotions, identity, and the deeper zones of the psyche through a dark, symbolic, and material visual language. His practice arises from the meeting of neo-expressionism, symbolism, dark art, and visionary painting, with particular attention to painting matter and the tension between light and darkness. Deformed bodies, enigmatic figures, anatomies, presences, and recurring symbols become tools through which the artist investigates what remains hidden beneath the surface of human experience. His work is characterized by a strongly instinctive approach to painting, in which spatulations, material accumulations, abrasions, and runs participate in the psychological construction of the image. The work is not conceived merely as representation, but as a mental space in which the viewer is called to confront their own interpretation. His works are already present in private collections in several European countries, including Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Greece, Belgium, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands, and Hungary.
