The Return of the Prodigal Son Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn

A fine lifetime impression of New Hollsteins's first state (of three) with sharp lines, before the additional lines on the steps of the stairs. The etched landscape in the background is still faintly visible. The parable of the prodigal son is one of the artist's most beautiful narrative sheets. Trimmed on the platemark. – Verso in the edges with traces of a former mounting, otherwise in good condition. | 1606 Leiden - Amsterdam 1669 | 15.-18. Jahrhundert | Druckgrafik | Nummer: 26x1310 | Provenance: Probably Prince Henri de Bourbon-Parma, Count of Bardi (1851–1905), Italy, recto with the collection stamp (Lugt 336).
