Terracotta, Replica of Ancient Greek head Sculpture - 13 cm (No reserve price)

Technique: Terracotta Title of the piece: “Greek female head – Archaeological reproduction” Workshop: TAP (Tameio Archaiologikon Poron kai Apallotrioseon) Country of origin: Greece, according to the information provided Total dimensions: 13 cm high, including the base. Greek archaeological reproduction in terracotta of a female head inspired by Hellenistic art, presented on a dark square plinth by means of a metal support. The face shows idealized features, a serene expression and a hairstyle of wavy locks, crowned by an elevated headdress. The surface combines the reddish tone of the terracotta with whitish areas that highlight the reliefs of the face and hair, giving the piece an aged appearance. Its small size and its mounting allow easy display in a showcase, library, or collection of ancient art reproductions. The front part of the base incorporates a circular metal seal identified by the owner as belonging to the former TAP —Tameio Archaiologikon Poron kai Apallotrioseon—, a Greek public body linked to the Ministry of Culture, among whose activities was the production of copies and reproductions of archaeological pieces. This institution was reorganized in 2020 under the name ODAP. The piece is expressly offered as a reproduction inspired by Hellenistic art, not as an original archaeological antiquity. There is no documentation to determine the date of manufacture or identify the ancient work that served as a model.
