Originals, Belonging to one of the largest private European collections of Japanese bowls. !!GREAT OPPORTUNITY!!, Do not miss out. We present to you a LOT for Japanese Matcha tea ceremony. Consisting of 1 unique and highly singular tea bowl (Chawan) Aka (red) signed by Raku Kichizaemon 12th Konyu 十二代 楽吉左衛門 弘入 (1857-1932), very original with hand-painted artwork, extremely rare, also accompanied by the original Japanese lacquered wooden tea box (Chabako) and several ceremony accessories. Fabric bag for the bowl, several fukusa (silk handkerchiefs), brand-new Chasen in its original box (Japanese bamboo whisk), Chasen Kusenaoshi (Chasen stand), incense container (kogo). This lot of Raku Tea Bowl is of the highest quality, Unique and very Singular, original from the Meiji Period, estimated to have been created more than 100 years ago. This tea bowl is signed with the artist’s seal of 12th Raku. Raku-Yaki is the most coveted bowl in Japan, featuring hill and pine and cherry blossom motifs that make it unique. (This item is as new with very little use). ARTIST’S HISTORY: Kyonyu was born in the Edo Period (1857) and inherited the head of the family at 15. Born as the first son of Keinyu, 11th Raku. At 63 he retired, passing the leadership to his eldest son, Seinyu, 13th Raku. He died at 76 (1932). It is said that Konyu was gentle and affable, versed in other arts such as poetry. After the Edo period, in the Meiji period, the tea ceremony experienced a decline due to the political tensions of the time. It was Konyu 12th who carried the banner and thanks to his efforts the ceremony revived and the RAKU family once again became the most sought-after. He enjoyed poetry and lived a secluded life at the Ishiyama summer house in Shiga prefecture. A highly prized collectible, for Tea Houses, Exhibitions—undoubtedly an impressive item difficult to find elsewhere. Today, drinking Japanese Matcha tea is in fashion and healthy.
