Italian Extendable Dining Table, 1970s — Lacquered Wood, Brass Details and Marble Base An elegant Italian dining table from the 1970s, distinguished by balanced proportions, luminous surfaces and a refined combination of lacquered wood, brass and natural marble. The round top in glossy cream-coloured lacquered wood features slender brass details that emphasise its geometry. Metal detailing also appears on the central pedestal, creating a coherent visual connection between the top and the base. The structure rests on a cylindrical pedestal supported by a circular natural marble platform. The warm tones and veining of the stone complement the smooth lacquered finish, giving the table a sculptural presence and an appealing richness of materials. The extension system incorporates a central leaf that transforms the top from round to oval, increasing its diameter of 115 cm to an extended length of 155 cm. This versatile solution provides additional space while preserving the balance of the proportions. Its materials and formal language place the table within the context of 1970s Italian design, with an elegance suited to a dining room, professional office or reception space. Details Origin: Italy Period: 1970s Style: Modernist / Mid-Century Modern Materials: lacquered wood, brass, natural marble Colour: cream, with gold-coloured details and warm-toned marble Type: extendable dining table with central extension leaf Quantity: 1 table Dimensions Height: 74 cm Diameter when closed: 115 cm Extended length: 155 cm Condition and Buyer Information The table is in good overall condition, with normal signs of use consistent with its age. The gold-coloured brass finishing trim is missing from one of the two outer edge sections of the central extension leaf; the corresponding trim on the opposite side is present. This is a cosmetic omission and does not affect the functionality of the table or its extension system. The existing trim can serve as a reference for restoration by a furniture restorer, using a compatible or custom-made replacement. As a period piece, the table may show minor imperfections and signs of age that contribute to its character. Over the years, it may have undergone maintenance or conservation work.
