Wondrous "Tall Hat" Pattern Dollar Signed by Giorgi (t) CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, ND (1914). Tientsin Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-66+ Cameo. L&M-859; K-642A; KM-Pn28; Hsu-15; Wenchao-856 (rarity: ★★★). Variety with "L. GIORGI" signature. A thoroughly captivating and dazzling specimen, this pattern issue struck during the opening years of the republican era offers some of the more entrancing and transfixing natures that one will encounter. The strike is sharp and exacting, while an immense array of lustrous brilliance bounds across the fields. So prooflike is their appearance that a subtle frostiness imparted unto the devices allows for a cameo effect, hence the designation. Lastly, some burnished russet toning at the peripheries envelopes each side, tying together all of its stunning facets. A colossal piece that is an undisputed RARITY, and one that resides at the apex within the PCGS census, being the single finest seen. Estimate: $300,000 - $500,000.
