Rare Peiping Printing 5 Yuan (t) CHINA--REPUBLIC. Central Bank of China. 5 Yuan, 1945. P-376A. S/M#C303. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58. Printed by the Peking Central Printing Factory (CPF) 'For Circulation in the Nine Northeastern Provinces'. Red-orange, city gate scene at left. Extremely rare Peiping factory printing, and NOT the commoner Shanghai factory printing. One of just eight notes graded by PMG to date. These notes were issued between 1945 and 1948 for military use and for the redemption of notes from the Central Bank of Manchukuo and the Soviet Red Army. Steady, heavy inflation led to ever higher denominations being issued, resulting in the lower denominations being recalled and destroyed. The Peiping 5 Yuan is the key note of the entire 'Nine Northeastern' series. Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000. Provenance: From the Renaissance Collection of Central Bank of China. 罕見北平廠印伍圓民國三十四年中央銀行伍圓。中央印製廠北平廠印製之東北九省流通券。紅橙色，左側為城門景緻。極珍罕之北平廠製版，絕非較常見之上海廠版。PMG迄今僅評八枚。這些紙幣於1945年至1948年間發行，主要用於軍事開支及收兌偽滿洲中央銀行券與蘇聯紅軍司令部鈔票。其時通膨劇烈，券額日巨，早期低面額者遂多遭回收銷毀。北平廠伍圓，實為整個東北九省流通券系列之關鍵版別，堪稱名譽珍品。 (t) This lot was manufactured in China (including Hong Kong), Russia or Republic of Belarus and was sourced from outside the United States for this auction after tariffs were enacted by the United States.
