Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS AU-50. L&M-240; K-89; KM-Y-141A; WS-0843. An IMMENSE RARITY of the Kiangnan series, representing the final emission of this type from the Kiangnan Mint before its reorganization and production of a new series of coinage commencing in 1901. This is only our second example of the type we have offered in the past decade, with an inferior AU Details example realizing $6000 in our May 2022 Hong Kong auction. This example displays moderate handling, with no signs of damage, and much retained appeal. An impressive piece for any specialist seeking the best examples from Kiangnan.
