Wholesome Variant with Appealing Toning (t) CHINA. Dollar, Year 8 (1919). PCGS AU-58. L&M-76; K-665; KM-Y-329.6; WS-0180-3. Variety with connected "zao" and five "lollipops". Emanating from an already difficult year in the series, this near-Mint crown should generate great interest among the students of the series known for numerous hotly-collected die variants. In particular, this connected "zao" type, which features a longer strike connecting the 造 character on the obverse, can be encountered with at least three different reverses: one in which there are five dots, numismatically referred to as "lollipops" among the denticles at the bottom [the type presented here], one in which there are six "lollipops," and one in which there are none.
