Sweden 1936 - First Airmail Flight Cover (Barnens Dag Flygpost)

A fascinating miniature-format Swedish cover from 1912, bearing the violet “Barnens Dag / Sveriges Första Flygpost” label—“Sweden’s First Airmail”—alongside a 10 öre red King Gustaf V postage stamp. The exceptionally small envelope gives this early aviation item a distinctive charm. Please note that the photographs are enlarged: the actual cover is very small. A prominent violet aviation handstamp ties both the postage stamp and the airmail label to the envelope. The cover is addressed to B. Wallenström at Skolgatan 21, Uppsala. The reverse bears a Lidingö Villastad cancellation dated 25 September and an Uppsala arrival marking dated 25 September 1912, together with a further violet aviation marking. The Barnens Dag flights of September 1912 occupy an important place in Swedish pioneer aerophilately. The combination of the special airmail label, aviation markings and dated postal backstamps makes this tiny cover an appealing historical display piece. The lot comprises the single cover shown.
