Rare Vintage Chinese Erhu in Precious Wood and Python Skin – Traditional Workshop of Suzhou with Bow Let yourself be enchanted by the timeless charm of the Erhu, the famous "Chinese violin" known for its heartbreaking, poetic and expressive sound, capable of evoking the grace and millennial history of China. This is not just an extraordinary musical instrument to play, but a true work of art and a collectible piece. The combination of dark finely polished wood, tuning pegs carved with floral details, and the resonator box clad in genuine python skin confer to this piece an unmistakably exotic elegance, perfect to embellish any environment or ethnic collection. The golden inscription on the neck bears the signature of Suzhou's renowned luthier tradition (中国苏州), historically considered the moral and artisanal capital for the construction of the finest Erhu in China. The artisans of Suzhou are famous worldwide for their rigorous wood selection and for the mastery of decorative carving on the rear grille of the hexagonal resonator box. Unlike modern mass industrial production, this specimen from the 70s/80s boasts hand-finished details, such as the ends of the pegs carved with floral motifs and the nut coordinated in ivory substitute (avorina). The Erhu is the solo instrument par excellence of the Chinese orchestra, ideal for musicians, collectors, or world music enthusiasts.
