Ca. 540 - 520 BC. A very fine black-figure amphora with an inverted piriform body, twin ribbed high handles, a discoid foot, and a flared mouth fitted with a domed lid decorated with a border of heart-shaped motifs and further concentric bands around a central knop. The neck is decorated with vertical panels of mirrored palmettes, divided by a band of circles. Side A depicts a quadriga with horses advancing to the left. Side B depicts a central warrior wearing a Corinthian helmet and bearing a circular shield with two dolphins, flanked by two young barefoot horsemen. The zones below the handles are filled with tendrils ending in palmettes. The lower body is decorated with bands of meander, linked leaves, and radiating tongues.
