“Study of a Little Girl’s Face” 40x50 oil on canvas. In this painting I have tried to capture the expression of a little girl’s face, aiming to convey the intensity of the gaze, its softness, its elegance, and what it holds. Stefano Russo is an Italian painter from Livorno, deeply linked to the tradition of figurative painting and to the search for light. His work draws inspiration from the great masters of the Seicento, in particular Caravaggio, Rembrandt and Jusepe de Ribera, reinterpreting chiaroscuro through a personal and contemporary sensitivity. His painting is characterized by strong tonal contrasts, intimate atmospheres, and a particular attention to the rendering of faces and emotions. Through the oil technique, Russo builds images using glazes and layers, seeking to unite the depth of traditional painting with his own vision. His work arises from the encounter between light, matter and figure, with the aim of creating works capable of conveying emotion and, at the same time, preserving the strength and dignity of great classical painting.
