Todas las subastas / Varios / Steam engine - Metal - 1970-1980 - Miniature steam engine
Antique miniature steam engine with accessories – Collectible item Beautiful miniature steam engine of traditional design, representative of old mechanical toys that allowed a concrete understanding of how steam and early industrial machines worked. The set includes the main steam engine as well as the two supplementary elements visible in the photographs. Aesthetic condition The item shows an antique patina, signs of use, oxidation marks and some paint loss visible, notably on the metallic parts and bases. The engine has undergone cleaning. Its prior restoration history is not known. Operation – Important During the last use, the engine was tested after cleaning. The boiler heats correctly, steam is produced well and a characteristic whistling can be heard. Steam is also perceptible during operation. However, the drive mechanism shows irregularity. When giving a manual impulse to the flywheel, it sometimes starts to turn and stops, but it can also stop, as if friction or mechanical resistance prevents continuous rotation. The exact cause of this anomaly has not been identified. The engine is therefore sold as partially functional This set remains interesting for a collector of miniature steam engines, an enthusiast of antique mechanics, or someone wishing to undertake a restoration. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow appreciating the general condition of the various elements. Careful and secure shipping, with reinforced packaging and individual protection of fragile elements to limit risks during transport.
