Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) – Hoechst Ibérica Christmas Card 1965 – Surrealist Lithographic Design & Facsimile Manuscript Description An evocative 1965 Christmas and New Year greeting created from an original design by Salvador Dalí for Hoechst Ibérica S.A., part of the celebrated series of Christmas works commissioned from Dalí between 1958 and 1976. The card opens to reveal a striking surrealist composition dominated by theatrical red curtains, monumental optical geometry and enigmatic figures, firmly rooted in Dalí’s visual language of illusion, spectacle and dream imagery. The reverse bears the contemporary printed statement: “Reproducción del original de SALVADOR DALÍ, creado para HOECHST IBÉRICA S.A.” together with the printer’s information: La Polígrafa – Depósito legal B. 29537 – 1964. The accompanying text and large Dalí signature are presented in facsimile, reproducing Dalí’s original handwritten manuscript prepared for the project. English translation “Christmas 1964 is characterised by the greatest visual illusions, with hallucinatory optical effects reminiscent of moiré, before the eyes of our ancestors who, in true Dalinian fashion, peer out in astonishment beneath the raised curtains of Pop Art.” The wording itself is particularly characteristic of Dalí: optical illusion, visual hallucination, moiré effects, ancestral vision and Pop Art are compressed into a short theatrical meditation on Christmas. This series occupies a documented place within Dalí’s commercial and graphic production. The Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation recorded the exhibition “Las Navidades según Dalí, 1958–1976”, which brought together Christmas designs and manuscript texts associated with the Hoechst project. About the seller The Collector’s Eye Every item I offer has been chosen for one simple reason: I would be proud to own it myself. The Collector’s Eye is built on the belief that beautiful objects deserve to be lived with. Rather than specialising in a single category, I curate a carefully selected collection of original paintings, decorative art, vintage writing instruments, luxury accessories, art books and timeless objects that combine craftsmanship, character and lasting aesthetic appeal. Each piece is chosen not only for its quality and authenticity, but also for its ability to enrich an interior. Whether displayed in a private collection, a thoughtfully designed home, a boutique hotel or a professional interior design project, every object is selected to bring warmth, atmosphere and personality to its surroundings. I am particularly drawn to objects that tell a visual story: expressive Mediterranean paintings, elegant French interiors, vintage European design, quality writing instruments, luxury lighters, Art Nouveau, Napoleon III, and carefully crafted decorative objects that have stood the test of time, as well as historical portfolios and prints. Every item is photographed honestly, described carefully and packed with the same attention I would expect when buying for my own collection.
