"Less is more!" asserted Ludwig Mies van der Rohe to express the ideals of modernism and the Bauhaus. Robert Venturi, the most famous architect of postmodernism, reformulated this sentence a good 60 years later in his own sense: "Less is a bore", in other words: "Less is boring"! And in this way he expressed not least the sense of style and the will to form of the 1980s in a catchy slogan. This ring from the 1980s was created in this spirit - and it is a truly impressive piece of jewellery. Light blue like the cloudless spring sky are the three sapphires at the center of the solid white gold ring here, which found its way to us from Vienna. The natural gemstones have a combined weight of about 14.10 carats and shine in an oval Ceylon cut, which makes them shine in countless facets. The center of the ring, which weighs more than 29 grams, is set by a large light blue sapphire, accompanied by two smaller sapphires of the same colour on either side. The quality of the gemstones is evident in their particularly high transparency and barely visible inclusions. They are rubbed into the ring's high-carat white gold, so that no prongs interferes when worn. Its powerful, closed form and workmanship allow us to date it to the mid-1980s. An independent appraisal has confirmed the quality of the materials. It comes with the ring, which is in very good condition.
