SÖDERSTRÖM (Göran), ed. — Art Goes Underground. Art in the Stockholm Metro. Stockholm, Lettura, n.d. Square in-4 format, publisher’s paperback binding, illustrated color dust jacket. A major publication devoted to the integration of contemporary art into the Stockholm Metro, considered one of the world’s largest underground art galleries. Edited by Göran Söderström, the book traces the development of artistic installations in Swedish metro stations, from the earliest works to large-scale contemporary decorative installations. It highlights the collaborations between artists, architects, engineers, and public officials that have transformed transportation spaces into true artistic environments. Richly illustrated in black-and-white and color, including views of stations, murals, sculptures, and monumental installations. English translation from Swedish by Laurie Thompson. Good copy; dust jacket shows some scuffing and signs of wear.
