Smith & Johnson London - Working Combination Lock - Money...

An exceptional and highly decorative Smith & Johnson London mechanical money box, beautifully designed in the form of a miniature bank safe. Manufactured in England circa 1940, this uncommon model is distinguished by its striking red textured finish, brass-coloured trim and authentic safe-style details, making it an eye-catching collector’s piece as well as a unique decorative object. The front features two numbered combination-style dials, a central three-spoke handle and the original Smith & Johnson London maker’s plaque. The top is fitted with a coin slot, while the side carries the original Smith & Johnson – Made in England plaque. The interior remains original and displays an attractive aged patina consistent with its age. The working combination code will be communicated privately to the buyer. This rare safe-shaped money box is highly sought after by collectors of vintage money boxes, English metalware and mechanical banks. Its distinctive design and decorative appearance make it equally suitable as a collectible and as an elegant interior display piece. Constructed from lightweight sheet metal, possibly tinplate or tin, although the exact material has not been confirmed. The money box shows signs of age and use, including light wear, scratches and minor losses to the finish, all clearly visible in the photographs. These authentic signs of age contribute to its vintage character. The photographs form an integral part of the description. Professionally packed and shipped with care.
