[Zionism] Secretary of the General Society for the Restoration of the Hebrew Language ("Ivriyah") Autograph letter signed by this secretary, January 4, 1904, 1p in-4. Letter written in Yiddish, apparently in Ashkenazic cursive. This letter seems to be the original of a printed tract. It is a call to the "dear brothers" (the Jews of Paris) to join the society, to support it financially, to participate in its activities and to disseminate its ideas and to come to the next general meeting. (tentative transcription below). This letter is interesting in more than one way. These are the precursors of Zionism, under the impulse of Theodor Herzl, who dies shortly after, on July 3, 1904.
