Sinankwa Léonce - Sculpture, African Madonna and Child - 60 cm - Wood

Madonna and Child – carved wood – presumably Burundi – second half of the 20th century Professionally shipped – more than 1000 five-star reviews worldwide. Wall sculpture of Mary with the Christ Child, entirely carved from wood. Mary holds the child close to her chest and both figures are given a simple round halo. The elongated form, strongly simplified volumes and deeply carved folds give the work a distinctly modern African formal language. The back is largely kept flat. Height approximately 60 cm; carved wood with dark patina, on the back signed “Sinankwa Léonce”, in good overall condition with light signs of age and use. Please view the photos carefully; they are part of the description. Shipped with track & trace.
