A premium automotive poster dedicated to the 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II — one of the most distinctive high-performance sedans of its era and a road-going homologation model created from Mercedes-Benz’s intense involvement in touring-car competition. This artwork celebrates the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II in its characteristic dark metallic finish, combining the compact proportions of the W201 with dramatically developed aerodynamic bodywork. The composition features a large three-quarter illustration accompanied by front, rear, side and top views, a detailed 16-valve engine study, a driver-focused cockpit illustration and clearly arranged mechanical specifications. The 190 E Evolution II Introduced in 1990, the Evolution II represented the ultimate development of the high-performance 190 E 2.5-16 platform. Created as a homologation model for touring-car competition, the Evolution II received substantial aerodynamic, chassis and mechanical developments over the standard 190 E. Its extreme appearance reflected a functional approach to high-speed stability and motorsport performance rather than styling alone. 2.5-Litre 16-Valve Engine Under the bonnet sits a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated inline-four engine featuring dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. Producing approximately 235 PS in road-going Evolution II specification, the engine represented one of the most highly developed versions of the four-cylinder powerplant used in the performance-oriented W201 family. The detailed engine illustration positioned at the bottom of the artwork highlights the 16-valve cylinder head, intake system, exhaust manifold and mechanical components of the naturally aspirated powertrain. Rear-Wheel-Drive Architecture The Evolution II retains the traditional Mercedes-Benz front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration. Power is transmitted to the rear axle through a five-speed manual gearbox, creating a fundamentally mechanical performance layout well suited to the car’s motorsport-derived character. Five-Speed Manual Transmission The naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. This configuration gives the driver direct control over the engine and preserves the focused character expected from a homologation-oriented performance sedan of the period. Extreme Aerodynamic Development The Evolution II is immediately distinguishable from an ordinary Mercedes-Benz 190 E. Its dramatically widened wheel arches, deep front spoiler, extended side skirts and enormous multi-element rear wing transform the restrained W201 sedan into a highly specialized performance machine. These elements were developed with aerodynamic performance in mind, giving the Evolution II one of the most recognizable silhouettes among European homologation cars of the early 1990s. Motorsport Heritage The Evolution II was closely connected to Mercedes-Benz’s touring-car competition program and became particularly associated with the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft. The road-going homologation model provided the foundation for increasingly sophisticated racing versions, helping establish the 190 E as an important part of Mercedes-Benz motorsport history. Driver-Focused Cockpit Inside, the Evolution II retains much of the functional architecture of the W201 while incorporating the sporting character expected from the flagship 190 E. Clear analog instrumentation, a compact steering wheel, supportive seating and the floor-mounted manual gear lever create a purposeful driving environment. The cockpit illustration included in the artwork captures the distinctive combination of traditional Mercedes-Benz design and early-1990s performance character. Detailed Illustrated Composition The artwork includes: Large three-quarter illustration of the 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II Dark metallic exterior finish Detailed front and rear technical views Accurate side-profile presentation Overhead technical view Detailed 2.5-litre DOHC 16-valve inline-four engine illustration Period-inspired driver’s cockpit Distinctive widened wheel arches Deep front aerodynamic treatment Iconic Evolution II rear wing Performance-oriented alloy wheel design Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive architecture Five-speed manual transmission Clearly arranged engine, power, drivetrain, transmission and top-speed specifications Vintage technical typography and archival-inspired presentation The warm ivory background, dark bodywork and precise monochrome technical illustrations create a refined motorsport-inspired aesthetic. The large central Mercedes-Benz remains the visual focus while the surrounding drawings explore the engineering and aerodynamic details behind the Evolution II. Specifications Model: Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II Generation: W201 Year: 1990 Engine: 2.5-litre DOHC 16-valve inline-four Power: Approximately 235 PS Drive: Rear-wheel drive Transmission: 5-speed manual Top speed: Approximately 250 km/h Engine position: Front Induction: Naturally aspirated Body: 4-door sedan The poster makes a distinctive decorative piece for a garage, workshop, office, studio, living room, showroom or automotive collection. It is particularly suited to enthusiasts of Mercedes-Benz, classic touring cars, homologation specials, German performance engineering and iconic motorsport-inspired automobiles. A celebration of one of Mercedes-Benz’s most distinctive performance cars — combining a high-revving 16-valve engine, rear-wheel drive, aggressive homologation bodywork and the unmistakable aerodynamic package that transformed the compact W201 into the legendary Evolution II. The poster will be carefully packed for shipping to ensure safe delivery.
